Participatory Mapping on Mobility, Security and Gender in the Rodrigo Bueno Neighborhood

Accelerator Lab SDG 16+ UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) + Government of the City of Buenos Aires

August 2019 - September 2019

During the months of August and September 2019, our work team was in charge of organizing and developing participatory mapping workshops with groups of women from the Rodrigo Bueno neighborhood of the City of Buenos Aires. The women of the neighborhood “mapped” their main destinations and routes from their perception.

Mapping Workshop 1: Everyday movements.
Mapping Workshop 3: Desired movements.

A Space Mapping experience was also carried out, which consisted of mapping the daily movements of a group of women from the neighbourhood for 15 days. During those days, each of them answered a georeferenced survey for each trip they made, which, in addition to showing where they were going, also allowed them to understand the conditions under which they travelled.

Space Mapping Meeting: Training.

With the results of the mappings, plus the diagnostic information and the results of Space Mapping, an analysis was carried out of the spatial configuration that was created from the superposition of the different aspects of women's mobility within and outside the neighborhood and the desired mobility.
